Mary Scholl, 79, died Sunday, January 21, 2007 at home. Mary was born December 22, 1927 in Elgin, IL, the daughter of Fred and Elsie (Zeyh) Wetzel.

Mary was a life long resident of Elgin. She was a graduate of St. John's Lutheran School and Elgin High School. On February 1, 1947, she married Erwin R. Scholl. Mary's first job was at Gail Borden Public Library. She then worked at Kresge Dimestore, the Elgin Watch Factory, and with Hillcrest School lunch program. Mary also assisted her husband with his business for many years. Mary enjoyed camping, bowling, card clubs and playing Bingo.

Mary is survived by her five daughters, Kathleen Fanning, Carleen (Barry) Burbury, Lynn (Greg) Lueck, Cynthia (Tom) Gibbons, Sandra (Brad) Welch, all of Elgin and South Elgin; eight grandchildren, Julie and John Fanning, Deana Burbury, Mary E. Lueck, Patrick Gibbons, Dominic, Phillip and Logan Welch; a brother, Walter (Charlotte) Wetzel; two brothers-in-law, Alfred and Rudy Scholl; a sister-in-law, Marion Conro; many nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erwin on August 10, 1995; a sister, Dorothy Korte; and a brother in infancy.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, 51 Center St., Elgin.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 A.M. in the chapel. Rev. Roger Pollock will officiate. Burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery.
