Jean Cléophas Charest, son of Pierre Charest and Anna Raymond, was born on 21 Feb 1885 and baptized the following day at Saint Georges, Cacouna, Rivière du Loup, Québec, Canada. He married Evangeline Raymond, daughter of Joseph Raymond and Rose Anna Boisvert, on 17 Jun 1912 in Auburn, Androscoggin, Maine. Jean was widowed in 1920. His second marriage was to Anna Pelletier, daughter of George Pelletier and Claudia Levesque, on 12 Sep 1921 in Lewiston. Jean died at age 52 and was interred in Saint Peter's Cemetery in Lewiston.
