Life and Times Viola Agnes Reinhard

Viola Agnes Newman, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. She was born on August 6, 1933 in Boerne, Texas to George G. and Viola Agnes Lynch Newman. As a young girl Agnes would take a life quilt from her room and run though the open fields where she lived and find the biggest tree to lie down under and watch the clouds. Agnes loved to find animals and people and faces in the clouds and would make a day of fun out of her activities under the trees on the handmade quilts that her beloved mother made. Agnes was devoted to her children and was a member of the PTA during the years that her seven children attended elementary school. Agnes also enjoyed attending the softball games and swimming events that her children enjoyed during the summers at the local YMCA. Her children also played softball every year for Northside Baptist Church which Agnes is still a member. In 1965 Agnes found a recipe that she loved and started a tradition of making Apple Cakes as Christmas gifts for her family and friends; and through her last Christmas was still making her famous apple cakes for her children and grandchildren to enjoy. Agnes was a wonderful mother and grandmother – not to mention a kind and caring person to all who knew her. Agnes knew no foe; she would give her last dime to help a stranger in need. She always said that no matter how hard your struggle may be – all you need do is look around to find five-people that are far worse off. Agnes believed that faith in God would carry you through any situation, and that God would never give you more than he knew you could handle. In 1972 Agnes entered her professional career and enjoyed her work as a District Sales Manager in the Circulation Division for the San Antonio Express-News for 24 ½ years before retiring in June of 1997. Next to spending time with her family, Agnes loved watching her favorite team on television the San Antonio Spurs. Agnes fell very ill in March of 2007, but was brought back to life with the help of the Spurs and their determination to win the 2007 Championship. With her three favorite players Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Manu Ginobili all playing at the top of their game – they helped to bring Agnes the extra jolt of joy and enthusiasm she needed to get her through the hard times of recovery. Thank you San Antonio Spurs! Agnes also enjoyed putting together Jigsaw puzzles and working on Sudoku puzzles. Agnes would frame her puzzles and give them as gifts to her family and friends. Agnes was married to Raymond in Kerrville, TX. During their time together, Agnes and Raymond had four children, Agnes Dale, Joe Raymond, Susan Elizabeth, and Robert Allen Flint. Agnes and Raymond were happily married until Raymond passed away 11 years later. Agnes later married Max in San Antonio, Texas. Once Agnes and Max were married, Max adopted Dale, Joe Susan and Robert. During their 15 years together, Agnes and Max had three children, Patricia Ann, Max Edwin, Jr., and Roger Udo Reinhard. Preceded in death by her parents, George G. Newman and Viola Agnes Lynch Newman, first husband, Raymond Elmo Flint, second husband, Max Edwin Reinhard, Sr., brother, George W. Newman, sons, Joe Flint Reinhard, Robert Allen Reinhard, Roger Udo Reinhard, and step – son, Kenneth Clyde Flint, Mrs. Reinhard is survived by son, Max Reinhard, Jr. and his wife, Flor of Blanco, TX; daughters, Dale Tondre and her husband, Curtis, of Rio Medina, TX, Susan English Brown and her husband, Ron, of Katy, TX, Patricia Ann Escamilla and her husband, Mike of San Antonio, TX; daughters in law, Debra Reinhard, wife of Joe Reinhard of San Antonio, TX, Debbie Reinhard, wife of Robert Reinhard of Port Aransas, TX, and Gladys Flint, wife of Kenneth Flint of Boerne, TX; 16 Grandchildren; 14 Step – Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren; 25 Step Great Grandchildren; 3 Step Great Great Grandchildren; brothers, Henry Newman and Roy Newman; sisters, Izola Williams and Mildred Stevens; numerous nieces and nephews.
