ROCK SPRINGS - A memorial Eucharist for Allen L. Keeney was celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 1993 at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion, 2nd and B Street, Rock Springs. Father Gary Turner and Father Tim Solon officiated.

Keeney, 60, of 1509 Sublette St., Rock Springs, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 10, 1993 shortly after being admitted to the Aurora Regional Medical Center in Aurora, Colo.

A longtime resident of Rock Springs, Keeney died following a brief illness.

He was born July 19, 1933 in Salt Lake City, the son of Albert L. and Daisy Lovewell Keeney.

He attended schools in Laramie and was a graduate of the Laramie High School with the class of 1951. He attended the Colorado Art Institute and graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1957.

He married the former Jean D. Yates at the St. Matthew's Cathedral in Laramie June 10, 1955.

Keeney was an art educator at Rock Springs High School for 31 years and retired in 1991. He was the director of the Rock Springs Community Fine Arts Center from 1969 to 1991. He promoted the arts in the Rock Springs area by bringing such artists as the Joffrey Ballet, Vincent Price, Dicken's Christmas Carol, Woody Herman and the Montayani Orchestra. Listed for many consecutive years in “Who's Who in American Art,” Keeney was a member of the Wyoming Art Educators and the Wyoming Artists Association. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion.

Survivors include his wife, Jean D. Keeney of Rock Springs; his mother, Daisy Osborne of Laramie; three children, Gail Keeney Mulligan of Colon, Panama, Lane Keeney of Rochester, N.Y., and Dawn Koltiska of Aurora, Colo.; four grandchildren, Kristine Koltiska and Megan Koltiska, both of Aurora, Kathleen Keeney Mulligan and James Keeney Mulligan both of Colon, Panama and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert L. Keeney and one sister, Gwen Keeney.

He was cremated.
