Jeremiah was born in Pike county Ohio and his siblings were Jacob (1830-1911); Isaac; Lemuel; George; Joseph; Nancy; Prudence; Catherine; Jessie; John; Gideon and Daniel. The family home was eventually established in Northwood and vestiges of their brick home survived as late as 1963.
Jeremiah married Ellender Caroline Smith September 26, 1837. They had thirteen children: Sarah Jane; Mariah Amanda; McFadgeon Luchus; Martha Emmaline; Lemuel Sennaar; Hannah; Young Clark; Salina Caroline; Louisa Virginia; Logan; Hardin; Oregon; Delila Agnes.
Their daughter Mariah (1839-1952) who died from her skirt catching fire in a field blaze is thought to be interred nearby her parents’ graves.
