He was involved in operations in Naples, Foggia, Anzio,
Rome, Arno, southern France, Central Europe, and the
Rhineland, while serving for two years with the 141st Field
Artillery. At the time of his death, he was a member of the
456th Field Artillery, 82nd Airborne Division.
He died in a fire that destroyed an officers' barracks at Pine Camp (now Fort Drum) and took the lives of five Soldiers who were temporarily stationed there for a winter (Exercise Snowdrop) training exercise.
