John Leberman, 79, brother of three Olney men, member of a pioneer family in northwest Young County died in a hospital at Lawton, Oklahoma.

He was born 20 December 1866 at Springfield, IL.

His parents came to Texas in 1868. The settled at Fort Worth in 1884 and in 1889 John went to Indian Territory to herd cattle. In 1901, he went into ranching and on a government contract he built the first fence in what is now the Wichita Mountain wildlife refuge.

He established a slaughterhouse on what is now the Lawton city airport and sold beef at Lawton and Fort Sill. He owned the Fort Still meat market until 1943.

He was a member of the Lawton Masonic Lodge, Knights Templar and a member of the FIrst Christian Church since 1898.

Survivors: his brothers; a sister - Mrs. W.F. Keathley of Meer, cousins.
