Michael Allen McDonald, 39, of Hagerstown, Maryland died Friday, September 16, 2011.

Born November 23, 1971 in Winchester, Virginia, he was the son of Mary Ann Ruffner McDonald of Front Royal, VA and the late Richard McDonald.

Michael held a master's license in HVAC and was employed with Service Mechanical, Inc. of Lorton, VA. He was a member of Calvary Temple in Williamsport, MD and had a true heart toward God. He was a member of Steam Fitters Local 602, International Bluegrass Music Association and the D.C. Bluegrass Union.

Michael passionately enjoyed playing and singing, bluegrass music. He was an accomplished musician and song writer. He played in several bluegrass bands, including Cedar Ridge, Cross Creek, Dark Hollow, Hickory Ridge, Circa Blue and most recently the "In Crowd".

Michael loved life and enjoyed every minute spent with his family and beloved pets, Bailey and Wilson.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Marjorie Moats McDonald; daughter, Rachel McDonald and son, Philip Kline, both of Hagerstown; brother, Daniel McDonald of Front Royal, VA; mother-in-law, Brenda Moats of Hagerstown; brother-in-law, Richard Moats, Jr. and wife, Amy of Hagerstown; aunt, Kay Hickey and family of Silver Spring, MD; uncles, Bob Ruffner and family of Riverton, VA, Willard McDonald and family of Winchester, VA and C. Nelson McDonald and family of Uniontown, PA; niece, Emma Moats of Hagerstown and nephew, Deven McDonald of Front Royal, VA.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Mack and Hilda McDonald, maternal grandparents, Paul R Ruffner and Lucille E Ruffner and father-in-law, Richard Moats, Sr.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Temple, 147 South Conococheague Street, Williamsport, MD. The Rev. Robert V. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Memorial donation may be made to Spark of Grace Ministries, C/O Emmanuel Baptist Temple, 16221 National Pike, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740.
