Son of Confederate veteran Francis Marion Higginbotham - probably born in Four Mile, Missouri or possibly Ravenden Springs (township of Janes Creek), Arkansas. Raised by various including older brother and neighboring family of Josh Kellet. Marriage Jan.25th 1891 at Bethany Chapel on Janes Creek road in Ravenden Springs, to 14 year old Rose Ella Pruitt. Life long members of the Church of Christ. Various occupations including hog farming, operating a livery stable, auctioneer, and manufactuing railroad ties for the government during WW1. Moved to Bernie, Missouri around 1915 (and lived briefly in Oklahoma about this time, but relocated back to Bernie). Brought family west on Route 66 in 1930. Settled in Hubbard, Oregon. Retired from farming to Salem, Oregon, then finally to Woodburn, Oregon where he died. Wife Rose Ella lived on to age 104.5 years and is buried with him. Sired 7 offspring who lived and at least one who died as an infant in Ravenden Springs. Also served on School Board in Bernie, Missouri. Smoked cigars; was fan of boxing. No military service.
