Joseph Allen was a farmer in Riverside Iowa. Heis the son of Joseph and Mary Allen who came to this county and township in October 1841; the former died October 1867 and the latter in Jan 1878. He was born March 1st 1846 on the farm he now owns. Consisting of 184 acres a part of his fathers homestead of 440 acres. This land was entered from the goverment and upon it the first brick housr in the Iowa Township. (Riverside, Iowa). The house was still standing July 3, 1878. He married Miss Eva Craig a Native of this township. They have three childen Clay Dudley, Josie and George D Mr. Allen is a member of the A.F. and A.M.
