He was born Oct 13, 1928, in Knobby, MO, a son of Arthur and Maude Alice (Dickerson) Chancellor. On Apr 16, 1955, in Sedalia, he was married to Mary Jeanette Askren, who preceded him in death on Oct 1, 2008.
He was raised and educated in Edwards and Sedalia. He served in the US Army from 1948-1952. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of Council 831 of the Knights of Columbus. He was a sales manager for Coca-Cola Company and retired from the Sedalia School District.
His lifelong joys were working in his greenhouse, gardening and his Purple Martins. He had a 45 year passion of collecting antiques and made many lifelong friendships during this time. He loved his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Survivors include two sons, Philip E Chancellor and wife, Karen, of Eureka, MO, and Paul A Chancellor and wife, Catherine, of Sedalia; a sister, Berna Dean DeWitt, of Sedalia; five grandchildren, Cindy Scholl, David Chancellor, Daniel Chancellor, Natalie Smith and Anna Chancellor; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter Daniel Lee Scholl and Aiden Montgomery Scholl.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Venable and an infant daughter, Mary Ann Chancellor.
Pallbearers will be Mark Scholl, Kevin Ficken, Matt Watkins, John DeWitt, Charles Wise and Dennis Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Art's Antique Collecting Family.
