Louise Peterson Batson, 80, of Stewart Street, Morgantown, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born March 7, 1921, in Clarksburg, daughter of the late Date K. and Florede Sexton Peterson. She was a homemaker and was retired as retail sales manager from the Morgantown Glassware Outlet. She was a graduate of Washington Irving High School in Clarksburg and attended Davis and Elkins College and West Virginia University. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, David C. Batson Sr.; a daughter and spouse, Anna Louise and Carl Lazzell, of San Antonio, Texas; two sons and spouses, David C. II and Sandra Batson, of Bruceton Mills, and Daniel C. and Susie Batson, of Morgantown; nine grandchildren, Amy Dooley, of San Antonio, Lynette Bartlett, of Richmond, Va., Jesse Holbert, of Baltimore, Anna Davis, of Morgantown, Carl Lazzell Jr., of Dallas, Andrew Holbert, of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Julie and Bethany Batson, of Morgantown, and Derek Batson, of Bruceton Mills; six great-grandchildren, Amanda Dooley, Zachery Bartlett, Taylor Davis, Tanner Davis, Conner Lazzell and Joshua Bartlett. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Lee Smith. Friends may call at Dering's Funeral Home, Morgantown, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, and from 11 a.m Thursday, Aug. 30, until the noon service with the Rev. Stacy L. Groscup officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Clarksburg. Donations: Hopewell United Methodist/Baptist Church building fund, Bruceton Mills.
