James Patrick Sullivan passed away at home in Sun City, AZ on August 13, 2009. Life Member #872, he was born in Manhattan, New York.

Jim was a S/Sgt with the 34th Infantry Regiment, company K, during WWII.

He was awarded the Silver Star during combat on Mindoro, a Bronze Star for service in Luzon, and a Purple Heart for wounds received on Biak Dutch New Guinea.

James Patrick Sullivan passed away at home in Sun City, AZ on August 13 2009. Life Member #872 He was born April 3, 1924 in Manhattan, New York.

Jim was a S/Sgt with the 24th Infantry Division during WWII, serving with distinction in the Pacific Theatre under General Douglas McArthur. He was awarded the Silver Star for valor during combat on Mindoro Island. He was awarded a Bronze Star with three oak leaf clusters for meritorious service during combat in Luzon. James was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received during combat in Biak Dutch New Guinea.

After his Army Service, Jim served on the New York City Police Department until his retirement to Phoenix in 1974. Not one to sit around, Jim worked for Lucent Technologies until retiring in 1989.

James is survived by his beloved family, Rev. Patrick J. Sullivan, CSC - currently of Boston, MA. - His sister Eileen and brother- in- law Joseph Donahue of Toms River, N.J. – His sister Joan Cronin of Highland Falls, NY - and his brother Thomas and sister - in - law Ellen Sullivan of Sun City, AZ.

He was predeceased by his brothers Edmond, John, and David as well as his sister Mary Campbell. Jim is also survived by loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and loving family members that are too numerous to count.

He will be dearly missed by his cousin Eileen and her husband Gilbert Martinez. Jim was also a friend of Bill W.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held Saturday August 15, 2009 7:00 P.M. At Menke Funeral Home 12420 N. 103rd Ave. Sun City, AZ Private internment will be at Calvary Cemetery Long Island, New York. I
