Illness Fatal To L.P. Smith
Former Resident Of This City Dies At Hopkinsville
Lewis P. Smith of Nicholasville, formerly a resident of this city, died this morning at 7:30 o'clock at Western Kentucky State hospital, Hopkinsville, following an illness of several weeks.
The body was brought to the Gerard funeral home at College and Tenth streets in this city. Funeral arrangements had not been completed early this afternoon, but it was known that services are to be held here with burial following in Fairview cemetery by the grave of his wife, Mrs. Clyde Runner Smith, who died January 26, 1919.
Mr. Smith was born in Warren county December 9, 1874, son of John and Julia Potter Smith. He and Miss Runner married June 5, 1901.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Estil Mansfield of Oakland, Mrs. Henry Galloway of Louisville, and Mrs. Charlie Stamps of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Sallie Bogan of Franklin, and Mrs. Luther Loving of Lexington, and four brothers, Ed Smith of Russellville, Alex Smith of this city, Henry Smith of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Lige Smith of Tulsa, Okla.
He was a member of State Street Methodist church.

Services Held For Lewis P. Smith
Funeral services for Lewis P. Smith, Nicholasville, former resident of this city who died early Monday, were held yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Gerard funeral home here.
The services were in charge of the Rev. Dr. J.G. Akin, pastor of State Street Methodist church, Mrs. Rhea R. Moore and Miss Eddie Sherill, vocalists, assisted in the services.
Interment was made in Fairview cemetery.
Pallbearers were Walter Smith, T.T. Gardner, M.A. Hill, Embry Smith, Lawrence Smith, W.S. Mansfield, Henry Bogan and T.B. Callis.

Lewis Smith, of Nicholasville, Native of Warren, Buried Tuesday at Bowling Green.
Lewis P. Smith, 67, of Nicholasville, who was reared in Warren County, died Monday morning at 7:30 o'clock following an illness of several weeks. He was a member of the State Street Methodist Church in Bowling Green.
The body was brought to Bowling Green where funeral services were conducted Tuesday with burial following in Fairview Cemetery by the side of his wife, Mrs. Clyde Runner Smith, who died January 26, 1919.
Mr. Smith was a son of the late John Smith and Mrs. Julia Potter Smith.
