Eldon George Armstrong was born on October 16, 1927 in Mangum, Oklahoma to George Washington and Mattie (Elam) Armstrong. He attended Lawton Public Schools. Eldon had served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1970, Eldon was united in marriage to Tressie Burrow in El Paso, Texas. She preceded him in death on April 19, 1980. He then married Vida Mae Timms on May 19, 1984 in Hollister, Oklahoma. He worked for the Grandfield Ambulance for many years. Later he worked for Tillman County District 3 before retiring in 1989. Eldon also served as a councilman for the City of Hollister and was on the volunteer fire department. After he retired, he then served as caretaker for the Hollister Cemetery. His hobbies included welding trailers and smokers for the people in the community. He attended the Hollister Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Vida Armstrong of the home; two sons: Eldon George Armstrong, Jr. and Rodney Timms and his wife Shauna; three daughters, Tina June Armstrong, Shirley Fuller and her husband Larry and Carolyn McAlexander and her husband Steve; five grandchildren, Amy Reagan, Jeremy and Shayla Tyler, Randy Timms and April Spurgeon; five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Alexis and Ryan Reagan and Chole and Zane Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Murl Armstrong; two sister: Hazel Armstrong and Melba Avant.
