Leta Mae Maynard, 98, of Shawneetown, Ill., passed away at her daughters home on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 6:52 p.m. at Taylors, S.C. She was born on March 7, 1913 in Sparks Hill, Ill., to William and Sarah (Porter) Leonberger.

Leta married James Harvey Maynard who preceded her in death on October 12, 1950.

She was a member of the Ohio Valley General Baptist Church in Shawneetown.

Leta is survived by two daughters, Judy Hill of Shawneetown, Stella and John Edwards of Taylors, S.C.; one sister, Virgie Barnett of Junction; seven grandchildren, Katie Hill, Steven Edwards, Chris Edwards, Linda Clayton, Timothy Clayton, Rose Ann Brunner, and Paul Robinson; several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Joyce Ann Maynard and Janet Clayton; two sons, Jackie L. Maynard and John Robinson; two sisters, Gusta Barnett and Lena Nelson; five brothers, George, Warren, James Fred, Epps, and William Leonberger.

Visitation for Leta will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Robert Patton officiating. Burial will be at the Hogan Cemetery near Shawneetown.
