He was born on May 25, 1957 in Urbana to John and Elizabeth Ellison Kirk. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
He married Rosemary Simmons on Oct. 7, 1975 in Urbana. She survives. He is also survived by five sons, Jeremiah Kirk-Kamara, John Kirk, Courtney Catching, Curt Lotts and Andrew Lotts; three daughters, Victoria Kirk-Kamara, Victory Kirk and Toni Kirk; five brothers, Nate Brown, Wallace Brown Jr., Eugene Brown, Gregory Kirk and Terry Kirk and six sisters, Bertha Brown, Willa (Harold) Charles, Bella Carr, Willie Lee Brown, Elizabeh Johnson and Udora (Jake) Pelmore.
