Nancy Evans was the mother of Henry Carroll. She and Joseph Carroll had 4 children. Nancy is buried at White Cemetery Adair, KY. She was also married to Curtiss Lard / Laird.
Joseph Carroll was the father to Henry. He and his wife, Elizabeth, are buried in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in York County, SC. Myrtle Long Dowdle (great niece of Margaret Long) provided the information regarding the father of Henry Carroll and stated that he also had a family by Nancy Evans and it was only discovered at Joseph's death when the estate was settled. Myrtle was the granddaughter of Margaret Long's brother, George Washington Long and was considered an extremely reliable family historian. Mrs. Myrtle kept meticulous records that she gleaned from years of research/record keeping as well as her own personal knowledge of her family and was always ready to share them as well as the pictures that she had accumulated. My sincere apology to any of those who feel that this stains the Carroll name.
Henry Ledbetter Carroll's children by Margaret Long were Mary Magdalene "Sally" Long, Margaret Matilda Long, Ervin Nathan Long and Andrew Jackson Long. There were several others, but their names have not ever been confirmed to me. The information stated regarding the children of Henry Ledbetter Carroll and Margaret Long was provided by Margaret's great niece, Myrtle Long Dowdle. She stated that Henry L. Carroll and Margaret Long were not ever legally married as he was legally married to someone else. To see a breakdown of the list of children of Henry L. Carroll, you may visit the memorial for each spouse and the children from that union will be listed with the mother's name. Some are in disagreement with the parentage of some of the listed children, but the actual memory of those related to them, who grew up in this family, as well as their pictures, etc. was considered when posting this information. Myrtle Long Dowdle was a well-respected Long historian and revealed her memories of these people as well as the data that she had collected. There is also another elderly man who stated that he had recollections of the families being together and though it wasn't talked about,it was understood that they were Henry's children.
