The body of Mrs. M. Louise Pretorius, wife of Valentine F. Pretorius, president of a lumber company here, and a former city councilman, was found in the Tuscarawas River early today.
Corner Albert L. Balmer said Mrs. Pretorius had walked a half mile in her bath robe from the Pretorius home to commit suicide in the river.
Her absence was first noted by her husband who called police.
The body was found after an hour of searching, wedged in a thin layer of ice on the river.
She had been in poor health for some time, suffering from a nervous breakdown, Balmer said.
