Carl Henry Albert Gaugert was born in Pipersville, Ixonia Township, Jefferson Co., Wisconsin. The son of August and Augusta Krueger Gaugert. He married Martha Emilie Zahn in May of 1901. He was a carpenter by trade, and helped in the building of most of Sullivan, Wisconsin's older buildings. He died at home in Sullivan. He and his wife are buried in St. John's Lutheran church which is actually considered St. John's of Golden Lake not Sullivan. The church is located in Jefferson County, but the cemetery is located in Waukesha county. He was also my namesake, and great-grandfather.
