Opal Everett Hanley, 90, of McLeansboro passed away at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 20, 2011) at her residence.
She was born April 11, 1921 in Strasburg to Charles and Mae Ritter Shanholtzer. She married John William Everett on April 11, 1940 in St. Louis, Mo. He died in 1945. She married Roy Hanley in August 1980. He died in December 1981. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother, Max Shanholtzer.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Everett and wife Ruby of McLeansboro and John Eugene Everett of Champaign; two stepsons, Bill Hanley and wife Theresa of Eldorado and Donald Hanley of St. Louis, Mo.; four stepdaughters, Corrine Peterson of Centralia, Lorene Greenwalt and husband Ronald of O'Fallon, Mo., Lois Martin of Houston, Texas and Donna Hooper and husband Ronald of Eldorado; four daughters, Judy Conaway and husband Joel of Carmi, Irma Lingreen and husband Jim of Champaign, Betty Ashley and husband James of St. Joseph and Mary Reardon of Mattoon; 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
