James CHISM, 73 passed away at his home here this morning at 12:15. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Bine Gap Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Jessie CHISM, and a granddaughter, Mrs. William SIMMONS and two great grandchildren, Patsy and Jimmy SIMMONS. A daughter Mrs. Roxie ANKENBRANDT passed away in June 1945.

James Chism, well known resident of Bone Gap, passed away at his home there early Tuesday morning following a heat attack which he suffered Monday evening. He had passed his 73rd birthday anniversary on July 4.
Surviving are his wife, Jesse Recob Chism, a granddaughter Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Simmons of Bone Gap and two great grandchildren. He also leaves a half brother, Clyde Chism of Grayville. A daughter, Mrs. Roxie Ankenbrandt, preceded him in death several years ago.
Born in Wabash County July 4 1875, Mr. Chism spent nearly all his life in the Bone Gap community. He farmed for many years and after he retired continued to work at odd jobs. Despite his advancing years, he worked at defense plants in Evansville during the late war. He had been in charge of relief, and later overseer of the poor at Bone Gap for a number of years.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon at tow o'clock at the Bone Gap Methodist church, Rev. James Owens, the pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Bone Gap Cemetery.

James E. Chism, only child of Richard and Mary Chism, was born in Wabash County July 4, 1875, and departed this life July 20, 1948. His mother died when he was one year old and he was reared for the most part in the home of his aunt, Mrs. Mary Ann Marriott in Bone Gap. Oct. 27, 1989 he was married to Miss Jessie Recob, and to this union were born two children, a son who died in infancy and a daughter Roxie who passed away June 27, 1945.
Since early manhood he has been a member and faithful attendant of the Methodist church, having been in attendance at both services preceding his death.
He leaves to mourn his departure his faithful wife, one granddaughter and grandson, Mr. and Mrs. Wm Simmons; two great grandchildren, Patsy and Jimmy Simmons, a son-in-law Bernard Ankenbrandt and one half-brother, Clyde Chism of Grayville.
His deeds of loving kindness in his home and the entire community will always be remembered.
Interment was made in Bone Gap Cemetery with Rev. James Owns officiating.
