Gloria C. Greten
ZANESVILLE - Gloria C. Greten, 85, of Zanesville, died at 6:55 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at her home.
She was born Sept. 19, 1922, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Frederick W. and Ann Krouskoupf Markert.
She was employed as a supervisor for Ohio Bell, Indiana Bell and New England Bell. She also worked for NCR, Kroger Company and retired from the Zanesville Police Department, where she worked as a dispatcher for 13 years. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Charles L. Greten, whom she married July 11, 1947, of the home; two daughters, Gloria (Peg) and Leonard (Butch) Durst and Gail (Colin) Detty, all of Zanesville; five grandchildren, Gayla (Todd) Gibson, Mollie (Bob) Hatfield, Joshua (Megan) Durst, Shane Detty and Nicole (Mark) Brown; six great-grandchildren, Amanda and Matthew Gibson, Jessica and Brandon Hatfield, Dylon Brown and Logan Durst; one great-great-grandchild, Ryley Gibson; two sisters, Betty Wharton of Otsego and Gladys Allwood of Zanesville; her favorite sister-in-law, Wilma Markert McClain of Toboso; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Doug Markert; and three sisters, Margaret Beaver, June Vickers and Kathryn Headley.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 18, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2008, at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Kudart officiating. Entombment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
