She worked as an X-ray technician in New York City, where she met her future husband, Earl E. Adams. They were married in 1950 in Poughkeepsie New York and she moved to Nebraska, which she called home until last year. Widowed in 1958, she raised 3 children with the help of her mom (Nana) and then became Nana's loving caregiver. She worked for various doctors throughout her career as well as Basin Electric and Panhandle CoOp as a bookkeeper and retired in 1989. She was an avid golfer and bridge player. She loved to knit, do crossword puzzles and work in her rose garden. She recently moved to Sherwood, Arkansas but remained a Cornhusker football fan to the end.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Survivors include sons, Paul Adams (Sherri) of Avondale, Arizona, Bruce Adams (Kathy) of Houston Texas; daughter, Lynn Hawking (John) of Sherwood; sister Jean Meyer (Howard) of Avon, North Carolina; grandchildren, Ryan, Nicholas, Frank, Tony, Danny, Andrea, Shawn, Tracy, Stacy, and Christy; and her great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Arkansas Repertory Theatre's Young Artists Scholarship Fund.
Visitation with the family to honor Lois will be at the home of Lynn Hawking, on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00. The graveside service will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 24th, 2011 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock.
