LEO E. SPRING DIES SUDDENLY

LEO E. SPRING, 80, died Friday at his home at 105 Silver Bow Homes. Coroner Andy Aleksich said death resulted from natural causes.

He was born in Rockford, Mich., Sept. 6, 1882 and received his education there. He came to Montana in 1902 and was employed in the building of the Anaconda smelter for a time. He later worked at farming and other businesses in the Lewistown area, and also represented the Toledo Scales Co., in Fargo, N.D.

He was married to LILLIAN SODEHOLM [SODERHOLM] in 1920.

The family moved to Butte in 1929, and he was employed as a miner and also owned and operated a store on South Main. After retiring from business in Butte, he worked at the State Hospital at Warm Springs until his retirement five years ago.

Mr. Spring was a member of the Knights of Pythias and the First Baptist Church. He was a member of the First Baptist Board of Deacons and had served in many offices of the church.

He was interested in fishing and many other sports.

He is survived by his wife; sons, GILBERT of Sacramento, Calif.; ALAN of Butte, VERN of Denver and GORDON of Missoula; daughter, MRS. KEITH WOOD, Salinas, Calif.; step-mother, MABEL SPRING of Rockford; sister, MARIAN BRADLEY of Rockford, numerous grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

His body is in White's Funeral Home, where services will be conducted Monday at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

LEO SPRING, age 80, of Butts [Butte], Montana, passed away suddenly at his home on Friday.

Mr. Spring was born in Cannon Township, the son of MR. and MRS. WILLIS SPRING.

He is survived by his widow, LILLIAN; four sons; one daughter; 12 grandchildren. A step-mother, MRS. MABLE SPRING of Rockford; two step-[half] sisters, MRS. BUD CLARK of Carson City and MRS. DALE BRADLEY of Rockford; two step-[half] brothers, HOLDEN and EDWIN of Grand Rapids, several nieces and nephews.

LEO SPRING and MISS IRENE FRAME, two very popular young people of this city, were united in marriage Saturday evening, the Rev. Martin performing the ceremony. Only a few immediate friends of the young people were present. The groom is a well known young business man of this city, having been clerk at the Day House for several months prior to its sale to Barnes and Woodman. The bride is the charming daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Frame of this city and numbers her friends by the score.

LEO SPRING, who is now engaged in business in Helena, came down to Lewistown last week, and, together with his former partner here, Mr. Eldred, consummated a deal for the purchase of the east side pool and billiard hall of H.M. Johnson. Messrs. Spring & Eldred formerly owned this popular place of amusement, but sold it about a year ago to Mr. Johnson, who has now disposed of it to the original owners. W.E. Vickerman will have charge of the pool hall.
