Bob enlisted in the US Army in August 1946 and served in the Philippines, China, Guam, Korea, and Germany. He was a combat medic during the Korean War and was most proud of his combat medic award. He retired from the Army in 1968 after 22 years of service to our country. He was very proud that four of his sons that served in the military and two grandsons that are in the Air Force and Marines. Bob later retired from the Harris County Sheriffs Department.

Bob met and married his first wife, Rosemarie Krause (1929-1971) while he was stationed with the US Army in Germany. She was the mother of his six children who survive him. They are Stephen Forrest and wife Laura of Floresville, Texas, Mark Forrest and wife Lorri of Weimar, Texas, Patricia and husband Tim Alley of Perry, Oklahoma, David Forrest of Houston, Texas, Robert Forrest Jr. of Cypress, Texas, and Russell Forrest of Hope, Indiana. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Ryan Forrest, Clara and Logan Forrest, Diane (Roger) McFarlin, James Alley, Daniel Alley, Robert Forrest III, Chelsey and Kyle Forrest, and two great-grandchildren: Dylon McFarlin and Krista Alley.

Bob is survived by his wife, Cecilia P Forrest, step-children Michael Watson of Houston, Texas, Sheryl O'Briant of Houston, Texas, Tim (Patricia) Watson of San Antonio, Texas and Ted (Diana) Watson Jr. of Katy, Texas and nine special-grandchildren. He is also survived by his three brothers and two sisters: Bill Forrest and wife Geri of Albany, Oregon, Tom Forrest and wife Betty of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Terry Forrest of Daytona Beach, Florida, Patricia McConnell of Dale City, Virginia, and Peggy Simpson and husband Dhale of Glendale, California. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a very devout Catholic and member of Christ the Redeemer Catholic Community where he was a member of the Classics Senior group. He was an original member of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration until his health limited his participation. During his long illness with cancer, he continued to maintain his daily prayer routine and appreciated the Eucharistic Ministers who brought him the sacraments weekly. He loved his family and especially enjoyed the grandchildren as they were growing up. We will treasure him in our hearts and love him forever.

His family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to all those who offered loving prayers to Our Lord and Savior on behalf of Bob. Special thanks and gratitude is extended to Christus VNA Hospice for their warm and compassionate care.

Visitation was held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, Houston, TX. In lieu of flowers, Bob would be honored by your gift to Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, Parish Life Center Building Fund, 11507 Huffmeister, Houston, TX 77065 or the charity of your choice.
