Obituary:
Edwardsville Intelligencer, July 30, 1963 -- Sophie W. Bloemker - NEW DOUGLAS - Mrs. Sophie Wilhelmina Bloemker, 89, who resided south of here 12 years, died Monday at 12:40 p.m. at Community Memorial Hospital, Staunton where she had been a patient 17 days. She had been in ill health seven years.

Mrs. Bloemker previously resided in the Bond County area, Alhambra and vicinity.

Born March 15, 1874 in Alhambra Township, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Determann. On Feb. 25, 1895 in Leef Township she was married to William Hamann. She later was married to William Bloemker on Oct. 4, 1908 at Alhambra.

Surviving in addition to her husband are six sons and four daughters, Charlie Hamann, Hutchison, Kan., Walter hamann, McPherson, Kan., Alfred Bloemker, Mrs. Clara Schweppe, Mrs. Ella Thiems, Mrs. Anita Mollett, Mrs. Helen Trauernicht, New Douglas, Harold Bloemker, Pocahontas, Wilbur and Melvin Bloemker, both of Highland; one brother, August Determan, Edwardsville; 32 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. Three sons, three daughters, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Mrs. Bloemker was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ, Alhambra and the Ladies Guild.

The body may be viewed at the Lesicko funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday until 11:30 a.m. Thursday when it will be taken to the Salem United Church of Christ, Alhambra to lie in state until the services at 2 p.m. The Rev. Arnold Bizer, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Salem cemetery.
