Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 after a short illness. She was 93.
The daughter of the late Charles Ferris and Nellie Breen Ferris, she was born May 23, 1912 in Lake Placid. She was the widow of V. Kenneth Godfrey who predeceased her on October 29, 1990.
Grace was a schoolteacher for 25 years at the Bloomingburg Union Free School, which later became the Pine Bush Central School District. She was a member of the Church of Christ at Middletown; Retired Teacher's Assoc.; Ladies Auxiliary of the Bloomingburg Fire Dept.; Bloomingburg Grange; a former member of the Bloomingburg Methodist Church; and a former village clerk for the Village of Bloomingburg.
She is survived by her two twin daughters, Jane A. Godfrey and Ruth E. Puckhaber, both of Bloomingburg; several nieces & nephews; and many loving friends. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Charles "Chuck" Ferris; and a sister, Muriel Kelly.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro.. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 1 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Michael Egan will officiate. Burial will be held in New Vernon Cemetery, Town of Mamakating.
