A quick look at Federal Census records on Ancestry.Com gives us :

1890 - we get this description of her from a US Passport Application dated 31 March 1890 (she and her sister Margaret applied for a passport on the same day). 5 feet 3 inches, brown hair, brown eyes, medium complexion, oval face, large mouth, medium forehead, nose and chin. She was 48 at the time and married to Walter Aiken so she was listed as Mary Aiken.

1850 - living with her parents in Hampton Falls NH where her father is working as a farmer. Siblings : Clara age 7, Richard age 3, and Susan age 10 months.

1860 - living with her parents in Hampton Falls NH where her father is working as a farmer. Siblings listed : Clarissa L age 16, Richard F age 13, Harriet age 6, Jesse age 4.

1870 - living in Franklin Falls NH with her husband Walter Aiken who is a manufacturer of machine hosiery. Children : James age 16, and Fred age 15, both born in New Hampshire. Children are from a preious Marriage of Walter Aiken

1880 - living in Franklin Falls NH with her husband Walter Aiken who is a manufacturer of machine hosiery. there are 3 servants living here.

1890 - from the Passport Application we find that she is living in Franklin Falls NH and her name is still Mary D Aiken.

1900 - living in Hampton Falls NH with her mother (Mary's last name is written as Aikens), both of them are listed as widows so Walter must have died sometime between 1880 and 1900.

1910 - living in Hampton Falls NH with Mary McGuire who is listed as a "hired woman" who is doing house work, born about 1857 in Ireland. "Own Income" is listed as her occupation (from her husband's estate ?).
