Dickie Claude Hill was a chief warrant officer 4 for the United States Army. Dickie was born on July 16, 1943 and was from Boise, Idaho. On September 9, 1989, he died in a non-hostile incident in the United States at the age of 46.

National Guard search Helicopters found the downed helicopter wreckage 25 miles southeast of Boise, near Danskin Peak.
Killed were the pilots: Chief Warrant Officer 4 James R Bollar 39 of McCall and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Dickie C Hill 46 of Boise.
The crew chief Sgt Charles L Hansen 28 of Boise was also killed.
The Huey was a Vietnam-era aircraft about 20 years old. It left Gowen Field in Boise around 5 p.m. Saturday on a training mission and had been due to return by 6:30 pm. Search efforts were called off at midnight Saturday and resumed at sunrise Sunday.

Dickie C. Hill, 46, of Boise, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 1989, in a helicopter accident.
A committal service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Middleton Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1200 No. Liberty, Boise. Dickie's close friend and pastor, James Seely of the Fellowship Baptist Church will officiate at both services. Services are under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Dickie was born July 16, 1943, at Ontario, Ore., a son of Claude and Ila Harney Hill. He attended school at Middleton. He went to Army flight school at Fort Rucker, Ala. and Fort Walter, Texas, and served in Viet Nam. He received the following military honors: Air Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (3 awards), Armed Forces Campaign Medal (4 awards), Viet Nam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon. He married his high school sweetheart, Claudette Wilcox on Sept. 1, 1967, at Caldwell. When he returned home from Viet Nam, he joined the Boise Fire Department and served for almost 19 years. He spent the early part of his career working at the airport fire Stations around the aircraft he loved. For 10 years, he was captain fire dispatcher before returning to fire suppression in 1984. He worked at Station 8 through the rest of his career.
Fire Battalion Chief, Ray Walters said, "Dickie was known as a hard working, caring firefighter who loved his work and was loved by the people who worked with him. All who knew Dickie admired and respected him." "Dickie had a quick Wit," commented Fire Department Chaplain, Mel Hadley. "He made work fun. Dickie could always see the amusing side of things regardless of the seriousness of circumstances."
