Wilmer Vaughn was the 5th of 7 children of Reuben Vaughn and Vinnie Maloon. He married twice. His first wife was Florence Whitehouse. That marriage produced 2 wonderful children but sadly ended in divorce. He married as his second wife Juliette Fisher who preceded him in death. Will served in WWII in the Army. He trained at Camp Blanding Florida and served in France in the US Army. He was in the 13th airborne assigned to the 409th Airborne Quartermaster Company. He was first a paratrooper and then was assigned to the glider unit. When he was not involved in combat situations, he was assigned to the motor pool as an auto and truck mechanic. Before and after the war, he worked for and eventually retired from the Oxford Paper Company. As a child he was brought to Peru Maine from Mexico, ME and except for his time in the Army, he always resided in the Peru/Rumford area.
