Roy was born on April 15, 1921, in Gonvick Minnesota, to Oscar and Matilda (Skime) Bagne.
He grew up and attended school in Erskine Minnesota. After high school, he went on to attend the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. He married Grace Chandler on February 17, 1943, in Euclid Minnesota. He served his country in The South Pacific during World War II. They made their home in Bemidji for a few years before moving to Aberdeen SD, where he worked for the Hormel Company. They relocated to Austin where Roy continued to work for Hormel until his retirement. In 2005, he and Grace moved to Pierre to be closer to their daughter, Diana, and her family.
Roy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Austin, the VFW, American Legion, Masons, YelDuz Shrine, Salvation Army, Austin Senior Center and the YMCA. Roy loved to visit with people and helping his community. He also enjoyed fishing and cooking.
He is survived by his wife, Grace, of 69 years; daughter, Diana (Mike) Vogel of Pierre; one brother, Roger (Idelle) Bagne of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Rodney (Sharon) Chandler of Texas; sister in law, Uldine Bagne of Fargo ND; grandchildren, Jake (Tania) Vogel of Brighton, Colorado, Stephanie (Kristian) Lund of St Louis Park Minnesota, and Isaac (Anna) Vogel of St Louis Park; and great-grandchildren, Maddie, Sadie, Aralyn, Crew, Kirion, Elsie and one more on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Paul and Dean.
