Haileyville (Special) -- John L. Whinnery, pioneer resident of this community, died Saturday evening at the home of his son, Homer Whinnery. He was familiarly known as "Grandpa Whinnery", and was formerly the janitor of the north ward school here. He had many friends. Survivors include another son, Floyd Whinnery, of Krebs, a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Blackbird, Haileyville, and another daughter living in Texas. There also are a large number of grandchildren. Funeral services are to be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, at his late home, with Rev. W. M. Landers officiating. Burial will be in the North McAlester cemetery.
