Lula Pigg was the mother of all seven of James Monroe Hall's children; (4 of which survived to adulthood); they were all born within the marriage of James Hall & Lula Pigg Hall.
James Hall married Jennie Stringfield in 1891, *after* the births of all his children. She was their stepmother. Many people and some records incorrectly list Jennie Stringfield as mother (instead of stepmother); sources such as the 1880 U.S. Census show James and Lula with daughters Nita & Lena (the other 2 children were not yet born). Jennie Stringfield and James Hall's marriage license is another source showing they married in 1891 (which was after all the children were born).
'Lula' m. at age 16 to 22 yr old James Monroe Hall. She was mother to all 7 of his children; 3 died in early childhood, 4 survived to adulthood. Family legend says she was overwhelmed by the pioneer town of pre-Tulsa, which her husband James Hall was very instrumental in founding; eventually being called 'The Father of Tulsa'.
Starting at such a young age; walking thru mud and dust to do their family laundry by hand, chores, duty, childbirth pain and losing 3 children, became too much for her evidently. She left one day (legend is she ran away with an employee of her husband's). And, that she wrote her daughter Lena asking her to come live with her, an invitation that Lena did not except. Lou Ann Pigg (Hall/Carr) can be found on the 1900 U.S. Census in Silver Cliff, Co married to George Carr along with their 2 yr old daughter Bernice.
