Special Agent Charles Chitwood, St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad Police, was shot and killed in the line of duty while he attempted to make an arrest. The suspect was attempting to burglarize a freight car on a side track in Tulsa, OK.

Agent Chitwood was single and a veteran of World War I having served in the 111th U. S. Army Engineers. He was a brother-in-law of Captain W. R. Wilkerson, Tulsa Police Department.
