Born in Naguilia, La Union, Aquilino came to the US with his brother via British Columbia, Canada in 1929. He worked as a fish processor, farm laborer, bartender, lumber mill worker (green chain), mechanic, key maker, hospital worker (SF General)... He enlisted in the Navy in WWII and served on the USS Enterprise. He was given a commendation for bravery for his efforts in fighting a fire that threatened the ship during a battle. His war service allowed him to become a US citizen. He married Helen Blake and raised his family in San Francisco, CA. Clino was a quiet man who worked hard and enjoyed working on anything mechanical, growing vegetables and being with family. He raised a big family on a small income and never bought anything that wasn't "necessary" (although his wife, Helen, often found some treats necessary). Everyone loved him.
