The Funeral Mass for George W. Arrington will be celebrated on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Christ Our King Catholic Church. Burial will be private.
The family will greet friends at the church following the service. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLESANT CHAPEL.
Mr. Arrington was born August 15, 1931 in Devils Wood Yard, Templeville, Maryland, son of the late George Edwin Arrington and Catherine Fredricks Arrington.
He was a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church, and served in the U. S. Army, 1948-1952, during the Korean Conflict.
He was retired from AMOCO Chemicals after 32 years of service. Past Commander of VFW Post 10624, Mr. Arrington was a member of the Military Order of the Cooties, and volunteered for many years with East Cooper Community Outreach as well as Sandpiper Village.
George is survived by his wife Joan; his children, Mary Lorraine Arrington of Wilmington, DE, George William Arrington, Jr. of Bear, DE, Julia Lillian Arrington of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Frank Frederick Arrington of Hockessin, DE; daughters-in-law, Karen, Kimberly and Mary Arrington; one sister, Audrey Billings and her husband, Clarence; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his children Amelia and Paul, as well as his sister, Dorothy Allen. The family requests memorials be made to the Hospice of Charleston Foundation, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464
