He was the son of the late James Rufus Adkins and Iva Pelley.
Adkins is survived by his wife, Opal Adkins, Louisville; one daughter, Linda Sanders, Louisville; one son, James Wilbert Adkins Jr. of Lanesville, Ind.; three grandchildren; several other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Nell Adkins.
Adkins was a member of the Pellyton United Methodist Church and a veteran of World War II.
Graveside service was Thursday June 25, 1992, at 11 AM. at the Pellyton Cemetery. The Rev. Chris Carroll officiated. Burial was in the Pellyton Cemetery with military rites with local VFW Post 6097 in charge.
