Simon Murphy

The subject of this notice, after a month's illness of heart trouble, died at 10 o'clock last night at his home in Scalp Level, this county, where he had spent his entire life.
He was a son of John and Polly Murphy, both deceased, and was born near Scalp Level sixty-two years ago. He was a farmer all his life.

Mr. Murphy was married to Elizabeth Keiper, who was born and raised not far from the place where her late husband's parents resided for many years. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Malinda, wife of Jacob Kelly, of Adams Towsnhip; Mary, wife of P. J. Orris, of near Geistown; Sara, wife of Joseph Hofecker, and Albert Murphy, of Adams Township; Misses Ida and Rosie and John Murphy, single and at home.

The deceased was a brother of John Murphy, of Franklin Borough; Alexander, of Adams Township, and Daniel, of South Fork, who were all members of Company I, Fifty-fourth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers, in the Civil War, of which the deceased was also a survivor. Rachel, wife of Max Smith, of Ohiopyle, Fayette County, and Mary, wife of William Stull, of the State of Indiana, were sisters.
Rev. Wriggle, of the United Brethern Church, will conduct the funeral services tomorrow afternoon at the Dunmire U. B. Church, at Elton, after which interment will be made in the church cemetery. The remains will be taken from Mr. Murphy's late residence at 12 o'clock.
