Catholic Priest


Started his training at St Francis Seminary in Milwaukee County, where his father had once been a professor, but became too ill to continue and returned to Durward's Glen. Completed his studies at St John's Seminary in Collegeville, MN. He was ordained a priest on June 24, 1887.


Father James introduced the Camillus order to Durward's Glen, but their novitiate was not dedicated until 1935, after his death.


He was born Alan Dionysius Durward, but (followed the practice of men in his family and) changed his first name to "James" when he became an adult.
