Mrs. Ealon Martha Smith Briggs, of 3801 Meadowdale Blvd., departed this life September 28, 2011.

She was retired from the Richmond City Public School System (Thompson Middle School) in 2006, where she taught Business Education for over 30 years.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Haley; two brothers, George and John Haley; and a stepdaughter, Carla Bolden.

She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband of 34 years, Ephriam Briggs "Chuck"; her devoted daughter, Vernee Briggs; five grandchildren, Donald Brown, Kiara and Kyreke Jackson, Mehki and Mikhail Briggs, all of Richmond; one sister, Annette Haley of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, Herman Haley, of Roanoke, VA; a devoted nephew, Avery Taylor (Datoya) of Huntsville, AL; a host of other relatives and friends.

Remains rested at Walter J. Manning Funeral Home, 700 N. 25th Street, where funeral services were held, Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at 12 noon. Minister Ethyl Porch officiated. Burial Oakwood Cemetery.
