Joseph Douglas Deal, 68, of 1536 Horseshoe Drive died Sunday at 8:25 a.m. in a Norfolk hospital.
He was the husband of Mrs. Mary McCar Deal and a son of Joseph Thomas and Mrs. Juliette Spratley Deal. He was a lifelong resident of Norfolk and a member of Eastern Shore Chapel.
Besides his widow, he is survived by s son, Joseph D. Deal Jr. of Newport News; a brother, Thurman Deal of Suffolk; and two grandsons.
The body will be taken from H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, to Church of the Good Shepherd for a funeral service Tuesday at noon. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Boys Home in Covington, Va.
