Phyllis was born in Roseville, CA to Earl Ames and Naoma Lucas Ames.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Ames Jay Hanshaw and her daughter, Leslie Voyles, and her five grandchildren, Nathan Norbeck of Confidence, CA, Erin Douglas, Shannon Berger, Sean Voyles, and Eileen Voyles, all of Missouri; and five great great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was a graduate of Sonora High School.

She worked 30 years for Pacific Bell, State of California, and later in property management and retail sales. Most recently she served as Administrative Assistant at Great Valley Center of Modesto.

Phyllis was a member of Modesto Dixieland Jazz Society and loved to dance. She also loved reading, crafts, travel, gardening, cooking, chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, and having fun! Phyllis had a great sense of humor and a wonderful laugh. She was one of a kind and will be missed by all who knew her.

Phyllis asked that any donations be made to The Dixieland Jazz Society or the local Humane Society.

A memorial luncheon will be held Sunday, October 2nd from 2-4 p.m. For information call: (209)602-9379
