Fern M. Staggs, 66, of Stockton, died Tuesday, April 2, 1991, at Mercy Hospital in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 5, at Lacock Funeral Home in Durant. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.

Fern Maxine Earls was born July 18, 1924, in Harris, Missouri, the daughter of Glenn and Anna (Andrews) Earls. She married Ernest Staggs on December 28, 1942, in Unionville, Missouri. She was employed at Heinz Company in Muscatine and also worked for Louis Rich in West Liberty for 18 years. She was a member of the Davenport Moose Lodge Auxiliary. Her hobbies included sewing, flowers and crossword puzzles.

Surviving are her husband, Ernest of Stockton; two sons, Charles Staggs of Stockton and John Staggs of West Branch; three grandchildren; one brother, Glenn Earls of Mrytle Creek, OR; and three sisters, Mary (Porter) Pratt of Batavia, Dorothy (Robert) Burkhardt of Davenport, and Beverly (Fred) Parham of Corydon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, one brother and one sister.
