From the booklet "Revolutionary War Veterans who settled in the Sixtown Area of Southern Jefferson County", found at the Jefferson county genweb page;

Dobson, Thomas - was born in 1747 in Abergavenny, Monmouth, England. He emigrated to the U.S. c1770; details of service unknown. He married Jane Pierce and they came to the town of Henderson in 1813.

Known child: Thomas, b 1776, m Fanny Whittier; d 19 Apr 1868 and was buried at Carpenter Cem., Henderson.

Notes;

I believe the place of birth for both Thomas's should be Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, Wales.

Listed with the Sons of the American Revolution as Patriot P-148708, 1752-28 April 1829.

There appears to be a great deal of confusion between Thomas and Thomas Jr. Michael Hetzel has supplied information from Family Search indicating Thomas Sr. and Jane Price did not leave Wales until after 1784. If he was a Revolutionary war veteran, he could only have been in at the end of the war.
