Betty Jackson Sampson, 79, of Middletown, VA, died Friday, March 5, 2010 in Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center, Winchester.
She was born Jan. 21, 1931 in Berkeley County, WV, the daughter of John H. and Bertha Mills Jackson.
She was married to Roy M. Sampson who died in December of 1993.
Mrs. Sampson retired from O'Sullivan Corporation in Winchester in 1993 and a member of the Shenandoah Valley Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Anna S. Cooley of Middletown; two sons, Roy M. Sampson, Jr. and his wife Ann of Winchester and James Sampson and his wife Patty of Stephens City; five grandchildren, Robert Cooley, Jr. of Bunker Hill, WV, Cathy C. Parker of Middletown, Eric A. Cooley of Middletown, Jaime C. Sampson of Winchester (currently attending college), Shawn M. Sampson of Winchester; two step-grandchildren, Kelly Watkins and Gary Hunt both of Winchester; and five great-grandchildren, Brittney Wisecarver of UVA College, Charlottesville, VA, Tyler, Josh and Lindsey Hamilton all of Middletown and Austin T. Cooley of Stephens City; three brothers, Tiny Jackson of Stephens City, Albert Jackson of Ridgeway, WV and Lawrence Jackson of Middleway, WV and four sisters, Juanita (Jannie) Trenary of Bunker Hill, WV, Stella Trenary Kelchner of Bunker Hill, Nancy Hodgson of Pikeside, WV and Carol Stein of Pennsylvania.
A grandson, Jason T. Cooley, two sisters, Mary Barrow and Ellen Ruble and two brothers, David Jackson and Harry Jackson are all deceased.
A graveside service will be Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Middletown with Pastor Michael Grooms officiating.
Pallbearers will be Marshall Cooley, Jr., Eric Cooley, Shawn Sampson, Jaime Sampson, Tyler Hamilton and Brittney Wisecarver.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in Phelps Funeral Chapel, 5095 Main Street, Stephens City.
