Mrs. Allen was born June 6, 1929 in Lufkin, Texas, the daughter of Bernice (Moffett) and George Nollie Hughes, and passed away September 30, 2011. Mrs. Allen graduated from Lufkin High School and attended Massey Business College. She married Dalford Dee Allen in 1952. She worked for Angelina Hardwood and for Regions Bank, and retired in 1992. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed plants, gardening and cooking. She also enjoyed John Wayne movies. She was a member of Lufkin's First Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Wanda Allen and Mark and Sharon Allen, all of Lufkin; grandchildren, Bud and Toshia Allen, Melanie and Danny Leatherman, Jesse Allen, Samantha Hernandez, William Allen and Samuel Wilson; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Allen is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dalford Dee Allen; and son, Charles Trey Allen.
Pallbearers will be Bud Allen, Jesse Allen, Colby Allen, Hunter Hines, Danny Leatherman, Mark Allen and Steve Allen. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home. Services are in the care of Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home.
