The funeral for Emporia native Shari Lynn Egan, 43, of 936 Prairie St. will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Norbert Tegtmeier of the Messiah Lutheran Church will conduct the service.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, south of Emporia.

The family will meet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to fibromyalgia research may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box
175, Emporia, KS 66801. Mrs. Egan, formerly of Burlington, died Friday, April 15, 2005, at Tonopah, Ariz.

She was a registered dietary manager and was responsible for starting the kitchen at the Holiday Resort. She also worked for the Emporia Women's Clinic, Newman Regional
Health and the hospital in Lake Jackson, Texas.

The daughter of Carl F. and Anna Mae Peak Petersen, she was born Jan. 13, 1962, in Emporia. She attended Emporia schools and graduated from Washburn University as a registered dietary manager. She returned to school and graduated from the Flint Hills Technical College as a licensed practical nurse. At graduation, she received the Mabel Campbell Award from her classmates for "going the second mile," after having three children. She married Marvin Messerschmidt. They were divorced. A second marriage, to Darrel Pohl, also ended in divorce. He died earlier. She married Tom Egan on Sept. 21, 1991, in Emporia. He lives in Tonopah, Ariz.

Mrs. Egan is also survived by two daughters, Angela Marie DeWitt and Roxanne Mae Mefford, both of Burlington; one son, David Lee Pohl of Burlington; a stepson, Josh Egan
of Lebo; three stepdaughters, Airman 1st Class Ashley Skye Pohl of Hill Air Force Base, Utah, Renee Pohl of Wichita and Jennifer Pohl of Joplin, Mo.; her mother and stepfather, George and Anna Mae Lodle of Emporia; her father, Carl F. Petersen of Emporia; two brothers, Jeff Petersen of Emporia and Ron Petersen of Waverly; a sister, Tina Petersen of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three stepsisters,
Ronda Mercer of Emporia,Charla Edington of New Mexico and Viola Wilhite of Cleveland, Okla.; two stepbrothers, Rod Edington of Kansas City, Kan., and Mike Edington of Oklahoma City, Okla; and seven grandchildren. Two grandmothers, Martha Mast and Christine Petersen, and her stepfather, Charles Edington,died earlier.
