OBITUARY

Oscar Ivan Knapp, son of John Owen and Christina (Anderson) Knapp was born on March 23, 1909 at the homestead six miles northeast of McDonald, Ks., in a sod house. He lived on the same farm until he passed away at St. Francis, Kan., on October 8, 1984 at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 16 days.

On Oct. 14, 1933 he was united in marriage with Madge Headrick. The highlight of his life was when they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1983.

This union was blessed with three sons, Duane, Dean and Bobby Dee and a daughter JoAnn by a previous marriage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bobby Dee; one brother, Bernard; two sisters, Hazel Courtright and Dora Cochran.

He leaves to mourn him his wife Madge; two sons, Duane and wife, Anna of McDonald, Dean and wife, Theresa of Bird City; one daughter, JoAnn and husband C. V. Swanson of Orange, Calif; 13 grandchildren, Vickie Snyder, Cindy Burrows, Buddy, Tommy, Cindy, Cathy, Connie, Cheryl, Barb, Mike, Deb, Deana and Darla Knapp, which were his pride and joy; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clara Stamm of Canon City, Colo., and Daisy Elliott of Torrington, Wyo., and a host of relatives and friends.
