OBITUARIES

George W. Allen was born Sept. 19 1875 in Knox Co. Indiana and died at McDonald, Kansas on February 26th, 1920, age 44 years, 5 months and 7 days. He lived in Knox Co., Indiana until he moved to McDonald in May 1919. He was married to Rebecca Robinson in June, 1905. To this union were born six children, one of whom died in infancy.

His immediate relatives still living are two daughters, Lillie and Bessie, his aged mother, Mrs. Susan Allen and his brother James of McDonald.

Mr. Allen spent most of his life as a coal miner until he came here.

Most of the time since coming here he has worked for Mr. Francoeur, the cnntactor (sic). He at the time was a member of the Methodist Church.

Mrs. Rebecca Robinson Allen was born December 13, 1887 in Knox Co. Indiana, and died at McDonald, Kans., on February 28, 1920, age 32 years, two months and 15 days.

Her mother died when she was nine days old and she was raised by and made her home with Mrs. Adeline Martin until she was married.

Besides her two children, she is survived by her father, Columbus Robinson of Terre Haute, Ind., two sisters, Mrs. Clara Orth of Terre Haute, Ind. and Mrs. Nancy Burke of Lansing, Michigan, and two brothers, William and John Robinson of Terre Haute, Ind. She was a member of the Christian Church.

William Lloyd Allen was born at Alfordsville, Ind. on Jan. 25, 1912 and died at McDonald, Kans. on Feb. 28, 1920, age 8 years, 1 month and 3 days.

He was a bright, likable boy, a member of the first grade of the McDonald schools.

Vera Louise Allen was born July 23, 1914 in Knox Co. Ind. and died February 26, 1920, age 5 years, 7 months and 3 days.

James Woodrow Allen was born Sept. 30, 1917, in Knox Co. Ind. and died at Bird City, Kans. March 1, 1920, age 2 years and 5 months.

The entire community mourns the tragedy and suffering of this house-hold and our hearts go out in sympathy to the relatives and the two daughters that remain.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. David V. Richardson of the Federated church for all except the baby on Sunday afternoon Feb. 29, services for the baby were conducted Tuesday March 2, at 10:00 a.m.
